Deemed by The Examiner as “a prodigy, [running] the emotional gamut from brooding introspection to manic exuberance”, American pianist, Andrew Junglin Yang, has performed extensively across the United States, Europe, and Canada. Julian Dawson, Former Associate Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera said of Yang: “He has a remarkable talent, his innate musical understanding combined with a fine technical facility [gives] him an ability to grasp the essence of each piece.”
While currently pursuing a M.M. in piano performance at Mannes School of Music The New School in New York City as a student of esteemed artist faculty, Pavlina Dokovska, Yang has recently begun an active performing career. Engagements in the 2016-17 season include a weeklong solo recital tour in Austria (Weiner Neustadt, Bad Fischau, Neufeld), solo concerts in Spain (Casa de Cultura in Llanes and Ribadesella), recitals for Noontime Concerts™ in San Francisco, performances at Lincoln Center, the DiMenna Center, and the American Yacht Club in New York, and concerts and WUSF (Tampa NPR) broadcasting in Florida.
Most recently in 2016, Yang was a top prize winner of the 5th Metropolitan International Piano Competition. A MTAC Young Artist Guild Finalist, other accolades include prizes at the International Heida Hermanns Piano Competition, Thaviu Issac Piano Competition, Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, San Francisco Chopin Competition, Menuhin/Dowling Musicians Competition, Stanford Young Artist Festival Competition, and the Evanston Music Club Competition. Yang was also a semifinalist at the International Crescendo Awards (Tulsa, OK) and competed in the live rounds for the 2014 Kosciusko Chopin Piano Competition and the selection round for the 2015 International Santander Piano Competition.
